Farewell to Ken Elderts, Respected Leader and Friend

WSAA co-founder, former President and payments industry stalwart Ken Elderts passed away Aug. 6, 2016. Ken touched many lives and left an impressive legacy in his industry and community. His career path demonstrated a consistent ability to anticipate technology trends and help emerging technologies achieve mainstream adoption. He led sales teams at eFund Corp., CyberCash, Lipman USA, Verifone Inc. and, most recently, at AnywhereCommerce, a global payment technology provider where he served as Vice President, ISO Channel.

Ken mentored countless industry executives, insisted that leadership included giving back to our community and paying things forward. The industry will greatly miss him, especially his friends who will always remember his valuable advice and counsel. He is our "ohana" - “family” in Hawaiian, something near and dear to Ken - as well.

Ken was a senior leader we all looked up to and respected. It wasn’t just Ken’s experience and knowledge of the industry, it was his kind way of treating all who came to him for advice and counsel. You got his undivided attention and gleaned the benefit of his insights and wisdom. Ken was always gracious to extend his friendship, provide candid coaching and help others. He wanted to help people be successful. His comforting mannerisms provided our industry with sound leadership during times of challenge and prosperity. He touched everyone in our industry in a very positive way and his presence will be felt and remembered always.

Ken leaves behind his wife Lori, eight children and one grandchild. A GoFundMe account has been set-up if you would like to help provide support to his family.

We have lost a good friend and mentor who will never be forgotten...

Aloha Ken, A hui hou "until we meet again"
